Housing

Calls housing a human right. Would bring a motion for more rent-to-own options in Ward 22, lower the luxury Land Transfer Tax threshold from $3 million to $2.5 million, revisit raising the Vacant Home Tax, and support building a homeless shelter in the ward, which currently has none.

“bring forward a motion to introduce more rent-to-own options in our ward”

Transit & getting around

Would work with the ward's MPP to increase TTC funding in the annual budget, push for more routes to the ward's GO station and a Line 4 extension into the ward, hire more fare inspectors who also serve as security, and open the DVP bus lane to high-occupancy vehicles. Would also bring a motion to remove the Huntingwood Drive bike lanes.

“I would also advocate for an extension on Line 4 so we may have more than one subway station in our ward”

Taxes & city services

Would vote against another property tax increase, and would hold monthly in-person and online meetings with residents on fiscal responsibility and how the ward's money is spent.

“These are your taxpayer dollars.”

Policing & safety

Supports defunding the police and moving the savings into community spaces and local initiatives. Wants officers to patrol on foot and by bicycle, and would make the Auxiliary Officer Program and the Adult & Youth Volunteer Program mandatory for new officers within two years of graduating.

“I believe in defunding the police.”

Climate & environment

Is running without lawn signs or brochures and has signed the Toronto Environmental Alliance Greener City Champion Pledge. Would strengthen flood protection and storm water infrastructure and push to raise the Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy if it has not protected homes in the ward.

“Reinforcing flood protection/prevention programs and storm water mitigation infrastructure will help contain and protect our environment and homes.”

Other

Local services: would publish a monthly ward e-newsletter on what is happening and how to reach City services, hold monthly community meetings, and push to restore Toronto Public Library funding so branches can extend weekend hours.

“I pledge to create a monthly e-newsletter that informs residents about what is happening in our ward”
