#WhySad Toronto’s care system shouldn’t just react to crises, but build pathways out of them. Fixing this means: auditing publicly funded services with user input, never discharging someone without a safe place to go, and investing in real withdrawal and treatment support. https://t.co/eHubL7XCPc

#WhySad This particular scene is playing out just a ten-minute drive or bike ride away from Ward 14. But the situation doesn’t stop at ward boundaries. As for solutions? Toronto should move toward a recovery-focused continuum of care, where every point of contact is designed to respond to immediate needs while also connecting people to the supports required for long-term stability. That would be one of my top priorities as councillor. If you want to help make that happen, we need people knocking on doors, making calls, and getting this message in front of voters before election day. Sign up to volunteer— even a couple of hours makes a difference. https://t.co/acSgpaTslB #Toronto #InTheOpen #VoteSad

#WhySad My parents lived on Sherbourne Street when they first immigrated to Canada. The neighbourhood has only gotten rougher since then. Now I’m running for councillor in the neighbouring ward of Toronto-Danforth. The problems we face are not unique to our city. Nor is the pushback against attempts to expose what’s happening. I’ll use every tool at my disposal to raise awareness and seek accountability, with a view to effecting change. #Toronto #InTheOpen #VoteSad https://t.co/tdWFdUG7Cu

#WhySad A defining issue of this municipal election should be access to public space, including impediments created by the pervasiveness of addiction, mental illness, and homelessness. #WhySad #VoteSad Why are Antifa activists so invested in the Toronto-Danforth Ward 14 councillor race? Probably because I’ve documented and reported on their activities, including things they’d rather the public not see, challenging entrenched narratives in the process. And that is precisely why their conduct is relevant to the Vote Sa’d campaign: What happens in our streets affects public safety, civic participation, and how public spaces are governed. For me, this isn’t just about winning a seat. Elections are a golden opportunity for public education, and Canadians have been woefully misinformed about many of the realities playing out in our communities. I’m grateful for the platform and the opportunity to bring some of those realities into the conversation. I can’t promise to fix, or even identify, the full extent of the rot in our institutions. But I can promise to approach every decision, big or small, with principle, fairness, and a commitment to effect change where possible. #WhySad #VoteSad In this clip from February 7, 2026, a masked aggressor in sunglasses, draped in an Antifa flag, approaches the videographer and repeatedly reaches for his camera. Another masked person records the confrontation without interference. We later learned that defamatory flyers about the videographer were put up around the area in advance, suggesting the harassment was not spontaneous. Police arrive from two directions. Can you guess what happens next? If you guessed that Toronto Police cautioned the videographer for “breach of the peace,” you’d be correct. Not correct at law or in principle, of course, but correct in your estimation of what happened. This is part of what compels me to run for office. For years, I’ve documented what happens on the ground when rules are enforced selectively, or not enforced at all. That matters beyond any one person. When police fail to protect people exercising their right to record matters of legitimate interest, they effectively deprive the public of an independent record of events. I’m running because I believe public spaces are for everyone to use without fear of intimidation or violence. And public institutions should be accountable, consistent, and willing to apply the same standards regardless of who is involved. Support a councillor who believes fairness and civil liberties should matter at City Hall: https://t.co/V7pPtzilgv
